StarID: Creation of Employee Accounts

The following are timelines for creation and activation of employee accounts:

New Employee Accounts

Faculty StarIDs are created and synchronized to the M State directory up to 90 days prior to the faculty's assignment start date.

Staff StarIDs are created and synchronized to the M State directory up to 45 days prior to the staff's hire date or assignment start date.

All Employees

  • The new employee StarID account is created within 55 minutes of a hire date or assignment date being entered into the system by Human Resources.
  • D2L accounts are created for new employees within 24 hours. This is a nightly process.
  • An employee's account (StarID) is removed 30 days after the hire date if an assignment date has not been entered by then.
  • If needed, IT staff can disable an employee account by setting the account expiration on the account.
