Star Alert emergency notification

Star Alert is M State's emergency and weather-related messaging system. 

If you are an M State student, you are automatically enrolled in the Star Alert system with the cell phone number and/or email address you provided when you enrolled. To update this information, you must register and activate your account directly with Blackboard Connect. Registering with Blackboard will also allow you to choose whether you would like to receive your notifications via text, email or phone.

Registering will allow you to ensure your most current contact information is accurate. You also will be able to edit your information and choose whether you would like to receive your notifications via text, email or phone.

To register:

1. Log in to your SpartanNet Portal
2. Under Other Resources heading, scroll to the bottom and click on the Star Alert box
3. Click Star Alert Page.
4. Enter your information and college email address, and set your password
5. Click the I agree box, continue (this will trigger a red notice that says "This email address is already registered, but the account has not been activated. Please click here to request an activation email.")
6. Click Here
7. Check your email inbox for an activation email 
8. Use the hyperlink provided in the email you receive to confirm your email address and log into your account.
   NOTE: you may want to copy and paste the link if you have trouble clicking on the link.
9. Establish security questions.
   Use the pull-down menus to select a security question and provide the answer to the question in the field below. This will be used to verify your identity in case you need to reset your password
10. Provide contact info under Tell Us About Yourself
11. Set Subscriptions
12. Set Preferences
13. Click Save 

If you have trouble getting registered, contact your campus Computer Help Center. If you forget your password, click the Forgot My Password link on the Star Alert login page.
